Meeting will include recap of Block Island trip and discussing of October trip along with some information on using GPS. October 20 – Webelos Open House.  Please make sure all Scouts are in attendance that night.  We will potentially have 15 Webelos visiting us and need help from all of our Scouts to have a successful meeting and a good first impression.

Upcoming Trips

10/15-17 Camporee @ Camp Squanto

October Trip will be the weekend of 10/15 – 10/17 at Camp Squanto

We will be participating in the Ground Patrol Search (GPS) Camporee. There will be numerous activities for the Scouts to compete in, similar to the Klondike. They have planned a round robin of scout skills and have included fun events like jousting, Roman Chariot Racing, Obstacle Course, slingshots, and much more. You will use your GPS Skills to locate your stations. Deadline for sign up is Wednesday September 29. The event itself is expensive so we need an accurate head count. We will be subsidizing the registration and food , so the cost per scout is $20.

11/12-14 Camping @ Camp Resolute in Bolton, MA

We are planning to rent a cabin that sleeps 20 people.  It has electricity and a wood stove. On Saturday we will be checking out the new Resolute Outdoor Experience.  In the afternoon we will start working on preparing and cooking a Troop Thanksgiving Dinner!  We will need to register in advance for the programs. Cost per scout after troop subsidy will be $20 to cover the cabin and activities. Popcorn Show and Sells

The Troop will be selling popcorn as its primary fundraiser for the year so full participation is required of all scouts. Each scout is required to sell $960 of popcorn. Show and sells average about $50 per hour per scout. Each time slot requires 1 adult to be signed up along with 2 scouts.

There will be opportunities for rank advancement and games if times allows. Please bring a headlamp to all meetings as we will try to meet outside if possible.

We will be camping at Aquapaug in Rhode Island and taking the ferry to Block Island for a bicycle tour of the island. 9/24 Friday night meet at the VFW 5pm and depart 5:30 for camping at Aquapaug Scout Camp in West Kingston, RI
Saturday 9/25 we will take the 9am Ferry from Pt Judith to Block Island. Ride the bike loop around the island and have lunch at the beach. The loop is approx. 8 mile. Take the 3pm Ferry from Block Island to Pt Judith
9/26 return to Franklin approx. 10AM. If you have not already made payment of $25 to cover the cost of the Ferry, please do so before Friday. In addition, please be sure to complete permission slip and health forms (if you have not done so already). Forms are available on the website.
