6/2 Swim Test – Franklin YMCA 7:00 to 8:00 pm

In preparation for the upcoming June Kayaking Trip we will need to test Scouts swimming ability.
We primarily need to test the Scouts who have not been on this trip in the past and/or have not passed the “Swimmer” classification at Squanto summer camp (2 years ago) The test is to jump feet first into the pool and level off. Swim 75 yards in a strong manner with a front stroke (crawl, side, breast stroke, trudgen) and 25 yards with an easy resting back stroke. Then float/rest for a minute. The swim needs to be completed without stops and include one sharp turn.
If in doubt, please have your scout complete the swim test. For those who are not planning to go on the June Trip, it may be a good idea to swim test anyways in case we do something else this fall or next spring (canoeing, white water, etc..)

Please RSVP for this event through Scoutbook

This is a great opportunity for older scouts to try a new camp experience as well as earn merit badges that have not been traditionally offered at Squanto. For new scouts, there is great program called New Frontier.  Scouts can drop into the sessions and learn many of the skills that they will need in order to progress from Scout through First Class.
