4/9-4/11 – Camp Squanto – Biking and Tenderfoot Weekend

Departure will be from the Franklin VFW Hall at 5:30pm Friday April 9th. Scouts should arrive at 5:00pm to the VFW hall to help prepare the Troop and their Patrols for departure. On Sunday morning we will then return to the VFW Hall at approximately 10:30am. Location Camp Squanto in Plymouth.  We will split the troop between Delaware and Penobscot campsites (12 people each). Please use Sign Up genius and sign up for the trip as soon as possible.  Right now we are limited to 24 people including our 7-8 new Scouts & parents (2 camp sites). If you wait until the last minute to sign up, there may not be room for your Scout to attend.

Saturday activities: Bike Riding in Myles Standish Forest and Tenderfoot Weekend (Advancement focus will be for new Scouts as well as Scouts who have not earned Tenderfoot yet).

All new Scouts are highly encouraged to attend. There is still time to sign up if you wish to attend.

Scouts will need their own Bikes/Helmets.  We will also need some parents to ride along (not everyone needs to bike).

We ask that each new Scout have 1 parent attend for their first camping trip.  We may have extra tents/camping gear available to borrow if that is an issue (please inquire if needed).

At this time BSA is still mandating 1 scout per tent (exception for siblings), however we will update if this changes.

3/10 Troop Meeting – Franklin Town Common  7:00 – 8:30pm– Meeting will be used to create Patrol Flags followed by games and rank advancement.

Volunteer Opportunity: Eagle Court of Honor Coordinator

The Eagle Court of Honor Coordinator is responsible for planning and coordinating all aspects of the Court of Honor. Duties include selecting the date, updating the ceremony script, working with the Scout to develop a bio, arranging attendance and/or citations by dignitaries and planning the celebration after the ceremony. The event is typically held twice a year and is dependent on scouts reaching the eagle rank. All tasks are documented with instructions and templates. Upcoming Trips/Activities

3/7 – Cross Country Skiing – Weston Ski Track (Leo J Martin Golf Course). Leaving Franklin at approximately 2:00 with a return about 6:00pm. Approximate costs will be shared at a later time. XC Ski Trip conditions will be questionable for Sunday.  Currently Weston Ski only has 1 trail of 1.5KM open. The wind today is blowing loose snow away and tomorrow temps will reach 40 degrees.  We will make a call on Thursday if the trip will be on, however currently it is not looking promising.
