11/18 Troop Meeting @ the Franklin United Methodist Church   7:00 – 8:30pm– Meeting will be held in the backyard of the Church. This meeting is an introduction to Boy Scouts for current Webelos. This is ‘all hands on deck” and all Scouts are needed to attend this meeting. There are approximately 20 AOL’s that are expected to attend and we need all Troop 29 Members to attend as this is a huge chance to increase the size of our troop. If you were not at the meeting last week, reach out to your Patrol Leader to get up to speed on the activities/games that will be played this week. Please do your best to dress in layers so you can still wear your Class A shirt on the outside.  Light gloves and a knit cap may be a good idea as well as it expected to be cold.

Upcoming Trips

11/21 Nobscot – Camping- Sudbury MA

Saturday is our Day Trip to Nobscot Scouting Reservation in Sudbury. We will meet at the VFW at 9AM on Saturday (11/21). Please sign up by Tuesday night (11/17) so that we can finalize meal plans on Wednesday night after the Webelos leave. We will be doing some hiking and potentially orienteering. We will trail cook for lunch and dutch oven cook in pairs for dinner. ETA back to the VFW is 8PM.

Also:
1. If you have an orienteering compass, sometimes called a base plate compass please bring Saturday

2. Please bring a bike helmet Saturday (for rope work/climbing, not biking)

Rechartering is starting up NOW.  Please pay your dues of $150 unless you have been notified of a discount due to popcorn sales. If you know now that you/your scout will not be continuing in the Troop after December, please let Tim O’Toole know ASAP. Part of the recharter is to update all of our leadership and youth membership rosters, so this information is needed.  If you do not contact Tim he will assume you are continuing, but you will be responsible for paying dues.   Please speak to Tim or Jon Apicella if you have any questions on membership fees.

Note this is now a day trip due to recent revisions to Covid regulations. The troop leaves the VFW at 9:00 am Saturday and returns that evening time to be determined. The trip will include some cooking activities and hiking.

Troop 29 Dues Payments by End November
It is time for us to recharter the organization and pay our Dues to the BSA. The troops cost this year will be $150 per scout. 

As communicated earlier, rather than relying on fund raising in these uncertain times, we are asking each family to pay this fee. If individual scouts would like to reduce their dues payment they have the option of selling popcorn either online or through the App and having the popcorn delivered directly to their customers. The reduction in dues is as follows:
$450 sales = all dues covered$300 sales = $100 off $150 dales = $50 off

So far Jackson and Landon have made enough sales to cover their dues completely. Well done to both of them. 
Tyler and Fraser are progressing towards the first level.

If you know your scout is not intending to sell popcorn, please pay your $150 per scout either through our PayPal or by check to Julie Baird by end November 

For those intending to sell popcorn, the sales need to be made by the end of December to count for both Dues reduction and Trails End awards.

ScoutBook Update

Scoutbook is now leveraging Single-Sign on. Your account credentials used for Scoutbook.com are now the same as for my.scouting.org.  More information is available here:  https://help.scoutbook.com/knowledge-base/sso-self-helps/For those scouts who want to access Scoutbook:  Only parents can give their own Scout’s access to their own account..

Parent role – Parents have full unrevokable parent rights to their children in Scoutbook. They are able to mark his advancement as “Completed” which is represented by a green checkbox. They cannot mark advancements as approved unless they are also in Scoutbook as a leader or on the unit committee. Parents can give their Scout’s access to their own account. Parents can send a message to any leader in the unit or if they are connected to a Scout they can send a message to the Scout and his parents.

Scout role – Able to mark his or her advancement as “Completed” which is represented by a green checkbox. They cannot mark as advancements as approved. They can edit his or her profile. He or she can also remove themselves from having access to their account.
