Popcorn Fundraiser Update

We had another great weekend selling popcorn.  If you haven’t signed up yet for a show and sell spot, please do!!   There are still shifts this coming weekend that need to be filled by scouts and adults    http://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E0A4AABAB2CA7FF2-popcorn1.  (Note: adults need to have current YPT training.   This is a 30 min online class that can be found at my.scouting.org.)

All scouts currently registered with the troop need to participate to support the troop with a selling goal is $450.  Those scouts that reach the goal, recharging expenses of $85 will be waived.   We are estimated that each hour a scout participates in a Show & Sell will bring him $50 closer to his goal.    Please encourage your scout to also visit neighbors, friends and family to reach his goal.

The due date for order forms  is 10/18.  We want all order forms, completed or blank to be handed in by that date to account for all scouts.  If you are done with that part of selling – hand in your form at any troop meeting leading up to the 18th along with the collected money.

Popcorn Fundraiser Update

A big shoutout to the scouts yesterday who helped kick off our fundraiser!  It was an amazing day yesterday –   the community responded in a very big way to our scouts as they promoted scouting.

Each scout has a goal of selling $450 of popcorn to hep meet troop funding needs.   We are estimated that each hour a scout participates in a Show & Sell will bring him $50 closer to his goal.    Please encourage your scout to also visit neighbors, friends and family to reach his goal.   If your scout is able to reach or exceed the goal, the troop will waive rechartering costs which is has increased this year.

Popcorn Show & Sell Preparation (updated)

Before Your First Show and Sell

The troop thank’s Jon Apicella and Kaye Hardt for taking on the role of coordinating our popcorn fundraising efforts.   The product will be stored at the Hardt’s home and together Kaye and Jon will be capturing our fundraising efforts and scout participation.

Scouts Tips:

  • Be in your Class A with a smile.  Remember, you are selling scouting, not popcorn
  • Arrive 5 – 10 minutes early at your selling location to set up, or enable a smooth transition from the shift before yours.
  • Set up and maintain your “store front” by creating pyramids of the similar popcorn product on top of the boxes.  Keep the area need and attractive.
  • The night before, practice with your family your sales pitch and be familiar with the items $30 and below because that will be at our Show and Sells.
  • Have fun!

Adult Tips:

  • Take Youth Protection Training, if not current in the last 2 years  Just go to my.scouting.org to take the short online training.
  • Be prepared to take credit card sales a couple of days before you shift.   If you have not received an email from PayAnywhere inviting you to set up an account, email Deb Ryan at mjryan4@comcast.net.  Follow Selling Popcorn with PayAnywhere Credit Card Reader instructions after you have followed the prompts of the invitation.
  • 1st Shift Adult:   Please get your supplies (popcorn, seed money and credit card swipe) from Kaye Hardt at 5 Calistoga Way, Franklin.   Please plan timing so that you give about 15 minutes for set up with scouts before the fist shift begins.  Meet with location store manager for clarification of set up location.
  • Last Shift Adult:  Please ensure scouts clean up the location and the scouts thank the store manager for allowing the troop to use their store front.  Bring all supplies and sign in/out information back to Kaye Hardt at 5 Calistoga Way, Franklin.
  • Each shift adult will coordinate sign in/out of scouts and manage money and credit card transactions.  There will be no need to take inventory of product or count money.

Popcorn Fundraising:

Each scout has the goal of $450 to contribute to our troop as well as local scouting.    If your scout is able to achieve or exceed this goal, the Troop will pay on his behalf all BSA rechartering expenses as a thank you.   There are 3 ways to meet this goal:

1.   Sell directly to friends, family and your neighborhood using the order sheet that was mailed directly to your home in August.  This selling window is from 9/3 – 10/18.   All money and order forms are due back to Mrs. Ryan no later than the troop meeting on 10/18.   Popcorn will be delivered back to your scout before Thanksgiving.

2.  Participate in the Troop’s scheduled Show and Sells.   It is our projection (based on last year) that every hour your scout participates in this method will being him $50 closer to his goal.    http://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E0A4AABAB2CA7FF2-popcorn1.  Sign up now to lock in at least 2 slots per scout.   Adults with current YPT are needed as well for each shift.

3.  Sell to family and friends via online.   Selling window is also from 9/3 – 10/18 to be included in incentives.  Further information on setting up your scouts personalized webpage:     Online Sales Info
