Ad Altare Dei Catholic Religious Emblem Program Being Offered

Ad Altare Dei Catholic Religious Emblem Program Being Offered

The purpose of the Ad Altare Dei program is to help Catholic scouts develop a fully Christian way of life in the faith community. The most important aspect of the program is that the scout grows in his spiritual experience of his relationship to God and the church. For more details, please follow this link: http://www.nccs-bsa.org/index.php/religious-emblems/ad-altare-dei.

A local scout leader will be running an Ad Altare Dei program for interested Catholic scouts during this academic year, kicking off with a visit to St. John’s Seminary in Brighton on October 30. Additionally, approximately seven classroom sessions will be held, the first of which will be on November 13. (Classroom sessions are likely to be held at the Community Building in Bellingham, on the corner of Maple Street and Hartford Avenue.) The program also includes a retreat, a board of review in April and service opportunities over the next several months.

The ideal age for this program is 12 to 14, although scouts are welcome to earn it up until they turn 18. Scouts must have completed the sixth grade before beginning.

For those scouts 15 and older, there is a separate program (Pope Pius XII) that should also be starting up soon (details to follow).

If interested, please contact Mr. McGuire immediately, but no later than Saturday, October 15, as the seminary needs a firm headcount.  Apologize this is late notice!
