Troop News 6/23/14

This will be the last weekly troop news as we move into the summer until late August.   If communication to the troop is needed during the summer, please contact Deb Ryan at mjryan4@comcast.net.

 

6/23/14  Clean up at VFW Tonight 6-8pm

  • Just in…. There will be a troop service project tonight at the VFW to help spruce things up.

6/25/15  Committee Planning Meeting @7pm

There will be a planning meeting at the Ryan’s (4 Symmes Road, 508-541-3906) to map out next year’s Troop calendar.   All Committee members should plan on attending.

6/28 & 6/29  Ethan Szilniczky Eagle Project – Wrentham Development Center, Emerald Street Wrentham  ES_-_BSA_T29__

  • Cleaning the hospital courtyard for staff and patients to enjoy the space
  • 9am – 4pm  Planting new flowers and bushes, painting railings, setting up new picnic tables
  • What to bring?  Gardening/Lawn tools.  If families are able to donate plants, soil or plant food please contact Ethan.
  • What to wear?  Class B, baseball cap, work gloves, safety glasses
  • What’s will be provided?  Food (breakfast and lunch), sunscreen, bug spray

7/13 – 7/19:  2014 Summer Camp at Squanto.     Coordinator:  Tim Cook  timcook@adaptinvest.com
  • There will be a chess merit badge offering by the troop during down time at camp.  If your scout is interested, please contact Dan McKearny at JMcKearney@aol.com so that he is able to provide sufficient supplies.

6/18/14  Troop COH and Picnic @ The Charter School

  • COH will begin at 6:30pm
  • Picnic immediately following
  • Troop families are asked to bring beverages and desserts.
    • Families with last name from M-Z please bring beverages (small bottles of water, juice, soda, etc)
    • Families with last name from A-L please bring a dessert

6/20 – 6/22:  Campout – Canoeing the Pemigewasset River in New Hampshire  Canoe Trip 06-21-2014 Perm,  PemiBoatWaiverForm_003

  • Slots are filling quickly, once filled we will only be able to put you on a stand-by list.  Scouts that have already asked for a slot will need to have their permission slip and payment in this week.  
  • Cost is $20/scout for the trip
  • Note early departure time:  Arrive at VFW at 4:30pm Friday to allow for a 5pm sharp departure
  • Must have completed BSA Swim Test in advance

Bradley Clements & Andrew Hartnett @ Franklin United Methodist Church, on East Central Street.
  • All scouts and troop families are encouraged to attend to honor these scouts for their accomplishment.
  • Scouts need to arrive at 3pm to help set up and rehearse parts wearing Class A uniform with bolos & sashes.
  • Need adult volunteers to assist with refreshment set up – set up will begin at 3pm.
  • Troop families are asked to bring beverages and desserts to help with the reception immediately following
    • Families with last name from A-L please bring beverages (small bottles of water, juice, soda, etc)
    • Families with last name from M-Z please bring a dessert

Need Volunteers for Service Project this Saturday

6/7/14  Service Project Opportunity with Pack 99

  • Many of our scouts are from Pack 99 – and Pack 99 needs our help…
  • Pack 99 is looking for 2 or 3 boy scouts to run/help compass station at this weekend’s Chuckwagon which will be held at the Franklin YMCA (Saturday 2pm to 7pm).
  • Interested scouts should contact Gregg Klawson at gregg@klawson.org or call/text cell 508-254-7598.
  • Mr. Klawson will need to know by end of the day today.

  • Deadline to submit blue cards and books to Mrs. Ryan to be included in Troop COH
  • All parents are encouraged to attend the Troop Committee Meeting.

6/5/14   Swimming Test at YMCA
  • Mr. Cronin will be holding a swimming at the Franklin YMCA for all who need swim test for the Canoe trop at 6:30pm this Thursday, 6/5.   Please contact Mr. Cronin if you will be participating at kevinc@agpgas.com

6/7/14  Service Project Opportunity with Pack 99 – Need Service Hours for Rank Advancement or School?
  • Pack99 is looking for 2 or 3 boy scouts to run/help compass station at this weekend’s Chuckwagon which will be held at the Franklin YMCA (Saturday 3pm to 7pm).
  • Interested scouts should contact Gregg Klawson at gregg@klawson.org or call/text cell 508-254-7598.
  • Mr. Klawson will need to know by end of the day this Wednesday at the latest.

COH Upcoming Dates:

  • 6/14 – Eagle COH for Bradley Clements and Andrew Hartnett.  COH begins at 4pm. All Scouts are expected to attend and many will have a small speaking role. Families are encouraged to attend as well.     We will announce shortly details for scouts and families.
  • 6/18 – Troop COH and Picnic.   COH will begin at 6:30pm.
