  • National Youth Leader Training is a weeklong training course that provides youth leaders with an opportunity to enhance their leadership skills while living by the Scout Oath and Law, in an exciting outdoor environment. Scouts who earn the NYLT shield are prepared to meet the challenges ahead and are better prepared to work with adult leaders.
  • Courses range in size from 40 to 60 scout forming into one troop, with six to eight patrols. The content learned at any NYLT course is outlined in a national-level syllabus. However, OCC’s NYLT staff augments the course with some events and special activities (such as SSD/SA certification), which are not required in the national NYLT outline. The vision of this program is to provide trained youth leaders (SPL/ASPL ) for all troops  in Old Colony Council every year.
  • For youth serving in the camp’s leading scout program, during their first year in that program, these youth staffers must successfully complete the week 1 NYLT course.
  • If you are interested, please see Tim Cook to learn more details such as costs, registration, etc.
