Troop News: Week of 2/25/13

THIS WEEK – TROOP MEETING COH @ CHARTER

  • We will hold a reception after the COH celebrating the scout’s achievements.
    • Families with last name from A-M please bring a dessert
    • Families with last name from N-Z please bring beverages (small bottles of water, juice etc)
  • Mike Maguire from Seven Rivers District will be a guest at our meeting on Wed regarding Friends of Scouting.
  • Please let Bob Latshaw know if you plan to attend the June 21-23 Canoe Trip  – it is important to reserve canoes now.
  • Communicate advancement and badge work to prepare for the March trip.
  • Bring March Trip Permission Slip:  Cachalot 032213 Perm

ATTENTION LIFE SCOUTS:

  • The annual Life to Eagle presentation will be held by the Seven Rivers District. Our Life to Eagle Program will take place  Thursday, March 14 (6:00-9:00 PM) at the Invensys/Foxboro Cafeteria (where we have Roundtable).

SKATING MERIT BADGE MESSAGE from Bob Latshaw

  • Sadly this has not been a good year for my backyard skating rink and it has been hard to find a time to schedule a skating merit badge session.   I will continue to try to get the rink in skating condition.   I may have to announce the session on short notice, so please watch for an announcement.
  • In the meantime if you are interested in the skating merit badge I would be happy to join you at public skating at the town rink.
  • If you are a hockey player, you can qualify for all of the skating activities as you skate during a game. I’ll be happy to come watch one of your games.

MARCH 22-24 MERIT BADGE/RANK ADVANCEMENT @ Cachalot Scout Reservation in Plymouth

We desire to have all scouts and many adults (especially merit badge councilors) to attend focusing on badges and rank advancement.

  • Scouts, please communicate the following to your patrol leader:
    • Work you need for your upcoming advancement
    • Merit badges you need or desire to work on
  • Calling all merit badge councilors!!
    • Aim to work up to this date as a date to conclude merit badges
    • Identify one day type merit badges to offer as classes.  We will have a cabin which will enable us to proceed regardless of weather.
    • Come to this camp out – this is the lowest impact of all our trips this year!

Troop News: Week of 2/18/13

NO TROOP MEETING 2/20/13 – SCHOOL VACATION WEEK

CANDY BAR SALES 2/23 & 2/24 – URGENT – SCOUTS NEEDED!!
Scouts are needed for Saturday, 2/23, and Sunday, 2/24, from 10 to 12 and 12 to 2 each day.  Candy bars sales is the troop’s major fundraising effort and we need to sell all the candy bars that we ordered. There will be a table, sign, and candy bars at each entrance so scouts just need to appear (in uniform). There should be either 2 scouts or a scout and a parent at each table. Please contact Kathleen Sinibaldi at 508-533-5745 or kathleensfran@aol.com to sign up for one of the 4 time slots. Please do it now!!

In June we will canoe the Pemigewassett River in northern New Hampshire. Bob Latshaw needs to reserve the canoes for the trip, so he would like to get a headcount. Please send Bob Latshaw an email at boblatshaw@yahoo.com if you and/or your scout plan to attend the trip to ensure we have enough canoes reserved.

Troop News: Week of 2/4/13

THIS WEEK – TROOP MEETING

  • This is the final week to submit completed blue cards and advancement to Mrs. Ryan.
  • Please plan on bringing to the meeting the following documents, if you have not already:  BSA – Troop Rechartering and Data Update 2013, and Split Rock 020813 Perm.
  • Please let Bob Latshaw know if you plan to attend the Canoe Trip  – it is important to reserve canoes now.  (details below)

TROOP COH  WED 2/27/13

  • Our next troop COH will be on 2/27/13.
  • All completed blue cards and advancement must be submitted to Mrs. Ryan by 2/6/13.
  • There will be leaders on stand by at the troop meeting this week to do Scout Master Conference and/or Board of Review, if needed.
  • Exceptions will not be able to be accommodated due to the school vacation week.

CROSS COUNTRY SKIING, SNOWSHOEING & ICE FISHING 2/9-2/10

  • Details of the trip can be found in the 12/24/12 Troop News
  • Permission Slip:  Split Rock 020813 Perm.  
  • As a reminder,  please arrive at the VFW at 6:30am for a 7:00am departure on Saturday February 9.
