Troop News: Week of 10/29/12
THIS WEEK – NO TROOP MEETING
- Because Wednesday is Halloween, there will be no troop meeting
- Please contact Doug Hartnett at dhartnett@highpointeng.com you will be attending the Treasure Valley Trip (see below). It is important to define the scouts attending so that final planning can take place at the next troop meeting.
HIKING & ADVENTURE RACE 11/16-18 Treasure Valley, Rutland MA

MERIT BADGE OFFERING
- Citizenship in the Community merit badge class to begin on November 28, at 6:00pm. Interested scouts should contact Anna dos Santos to signup (anna.dossantos@comcast.net). Materials for the class will be distributed at the Nov. 14 meeting.
- Classes will continue to meet at 6:00pm before Troop meetings thru Dec.

Troop News: Volunteer Opportunity
Saturday, Oct 27th 8:30 – 11am
2nd Annual Kennedy Ladybug 5K Road Race Fundraiser
Looking for volunteers to perform community service hours. Duties include assisting with traffic, control and crossing guard duties for the morning of the race.
- Arrival: 8:30am as runners will begin to arrive at 9am for number pickup.
- Depart: 11am as the race is to be completed and awards are distributed.
If you can only volunteer for certain times, that’s okay.

Troop News: Week of 10/15/12
THIS WEEK – REGULAR TROOP MTG
- The troop meeting is another Webelos II Open House. Please look for new faces (scouts and adults) and welcome them!

HIKING & ADVENTURE RACE 11/16-18 Treasure Valley, Rutland MA
- Please join us for a trip to beautiful Treasure Valley. The theme of this trip is hiking and an adventure race. In the morning we will hike 5 miles or so on the Mid-State Trail. In the afternoon we will have an adventure race around the scout reservation. During the race scouts will show off their scout skills. This trip will emphasize working together as a patrol. For scouts working on Tenderfoot, Second Class, or First Class, you will have an opportunity to learn and demonstrate new skills. Scouts will work on appropriate skills in trips leading up to the trip.
- From the perspective of proper preparation, particular emphasis will be placed on bringing the proper gear on the hike.
- Adults, as always, the more adults we have, the more options we can offer. We need plenty of adults to shuttle scouts to the start of the hike and to chaperone the scouts on the adventure race. We’d love to see some new faces!!!

Troop News – Week of 10/8/12

EAGLE COH OCTOBER 13th (THIS SATURDAY)
- Alex Drake, Tim Latshaw, Greg Phillips and Dan Rogers will be receiving their Eagle awards at the Eagle Court of Honor at 2:00 PM on October 13th in the Franklin United Methodist Church.
- All Scouts and their families are invited to participate in this Court of Honor.
- We will be holding a reception immediately following the Eagle Court of Honor to celebrate.
- Scouts – please let your patrol leaders know if you are willing to have a speaking role in the COH at our next troop meeting
- Please wear your Class A uniform with sash.
- If participating, please arrive at 12:45 to rehearse before the families arrive.
REFRESHMENTS & CEREMONY COORDINATORS NEEDED!
- The Troop thanks Anne Gilberti for volunteering to manage refreshments for Troop Courts of Honor, but we still need 2 or 3 additional people to volunteer along with Anne.
- This is a great way for Moms to participate in the troop without having to campout!
- We have 3 Courts of Honor and 2 Eagle Courts of Honor each year. Volunteers will coordinate setup and cleanup of refreshments for all Courts of Honor.
- In addition, they will setup the front ceremony area for all Eagle Courts of Honor (diagrams and instructions provided).
- The Troop has party and ceremony supplies stored at the VFW. The upcoming Eagle COH on 10/13 will be a perfect opportunity to learn what needs to be done.
- Please contact Anna dos Santos at anna.dossantos@comcast.net if you’d like to volunteer for this fun role!

- Sunday 10/14: We have room for 2 scouts at hourly increments from 8am – 12.
